Background
Village Cinemas is an Australian cinema chain, operated by Australian Theatres, whom also operate Greater Union, BCC, and Event Cinemas. It was established in 1954 by Roc Kirby as a Drive-in theatre in Croydon, Victoria. It has since expanded to operate 21 different locations across Victoria and Tasmania inlcuding one remaining drive-in theatre at Coburg.
1st (Known) Logo (1980s)
Visuals: On a blue background, the word "VILLAGE", made up of dots, zooms out onto the screen, letter by letter, each leaving behind a trail. Once the entire word has formed, it shoots forward a trail of light.
Technique: Early computer effects.
Audio: A synth-brass stab with each letter appearing, along with the trail of light, accompanied by a male announcer saying "Village brings you the hits".
Availability: Presumably used in cinemas at the time.
2nd (Known) Logo (1992?- )
Visuals: Same as the current Roadshow Films logo, but instead, the text "VILLAGE CINEMAS" fades in, and the byline appears in the same font as the main text.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Same as the Roadshow Films logo.
Availability: Shown at the start of every screening at a Village branded cinema.
