Background

Vision P.D.G. International (or "Vision International"), was founded in 1987 by Jon Peters, Peter Guber (who fronted PolyGram Pictures (founded by Guber) and founded The Guber-Peters Entertainment Company), and Mark Damon (founder of Producers Sales Organization). The initials of the founders' surnames made up the "P.D.G." in the company's name, and in the print logo, stood for "Producers and Distributors Group". Vision was sold to Crédit Lyonnais Bank in 1993. Quickly afterward, Damon founded the company MDP Worldwide; meanwhile, Guber and Peters went on to individually form Mandalay Pictures and Peters Entertainment. Moshe Diamant and Eduard Sarlui, formerly of Trans World Entertainment, joined Vision sometime after the company was launched. The library was soon incorporated into Epic's Beta library. Most, if not all of Vision's output now sits with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios though its pre-1996 PolyGram library.

1st Logo (1988-1990)

Visuals: On a space background, a 3D crystal "V" (which looks like an upside-down triangle) moves down while the words "VISION" (with the "V" bigger than the other letters) fade in piece-by-piece. The crystal "V" stops when it gets closer to the other "V", and "INTERNATIONAL" (placed at the right of the other "V") slides in.

Variant: On some movies like Mac and Me, the logo was accelerated fast.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A loud and strong synthesizer, sounding a bit like Deep Note from THX, end with a chorus. Sometimes, it's without music or the music from the beginning of the movie.

Availability: Found on the VHS release of High Spirits. Can also be seen on some foreign prints of Mac and Me, and was also seen on a trailer of said film that appears on the original UK VHS of They Live.

2nd Logo (1990-1994)

Visuals: Over a blue background is the same diamond and text from before. "INTERNATIONAL" slides in from the "V".

Variant: A still variant exists.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: None, although sometimes there will be music.

Availability: Seen on The Gate II: Trespassers and the Seedsman Group DVD of Mr. Write (the MCA/Universal VHS uses the Shapiro Glickenhaus logo instead). The still variant can be found on Almost Pregnant. This can also be found on the French trailer for Bad Influence and the British Medusa Home Video VHS of Leather Jackets. It is unknown if this was seen on international prints of Clownhouse, Out of the Rain, Kickboxer 2: The Road Back, Kickboxer 3: The Art of War, or Cyborg 2, among possible others.
