Avalanche Home Entertainment
Background
Avalanche Home Entertainment was a division of Lions Gate Films that was founded in 1998 to distribute smaller Canadian B-movies and independent films. Some of their DVDs were also distributed by Platinum Disc. After Lionsgate acquired Trimark in 2000, Avalanche Home Entertainment dissolved into Lionsgate Home Entertainment the following year.
(1999-2001)
Logo: On a rippling crystal blue background, we see part of the letter "A" and a snow avalanche below it. The snow reveals the word "AVALANCHE" and is placed underneath the big "A". Then the snow disappears, and a bolt-like figure flashes in on top of the "A". A line is drawn in, the word "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" appears below under the line, and a byline saying "A DIVISION OF LIONS GATE FILMS CORP" shows up. There is a small LG lion standing near the byline.
Technique: CGI.
Music/Sounds: A dramatic horn tune ending in an orchestral hit (ripped from Peter Siedlaczek's Orchestral Colors), followed by an ethereal synth tune.
Availability: Uncommon. Appears on older VHS/DVDs like Tiger Claws II, Cyber Vengeance, Expect to Die, Glam, Crisis, Shivers, Hitman's Run, Nemesis 4: Death Angel, Requiem for Murder and Papertrail, among others. Also appears on Amazon Prime's print of Last Stand.
