Background
Contender Home Entertainment was the home video division of the Contender Entertainment Group formed in 2005 as part of a split between the company's home video and television divisions, with their TV division becoming Rubber Duck Entertainment.
In March 2009, Contender Home Entertainment was folded after CEG rebranded as E1 Entertainment UK (later Entertainment One UK), and from then-on, ex-Contender releases simply used regular E1/eOne logos.
Logo (February 7, 2005-2009)
Visuals: A blue skyline with the River Thames below, made up of some of London's recognizable buildings on the landmark side (including the London Eye, BT Tower, and the Gherkin) wipes into view. Then, an orange 5-pointed star with a ring surrounding it rises beyond the wheel as the camera zooms in, passing by all the buildings. The star's ray eventually overtake the entire screen and it flashes white, before the light collapses into the letters "C", on a scratchy red-orange circle, with moving patterns, on a white background. Below, "CONTENDER", with "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" under it, fade in.
Technique: CGI by Fletcher Wilson.
Audio: An ascending tune, followed by a majestic orchestral fanfare. The fanfare was composed and performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.
Availability: Seen on Contender DVD releases from the time-period until 2009.
- It is preserved on Peppa Pig DVD releases from "New Shoes and Other Stories" to "Stars".
- It can also be found on select releases of 4Kids Entertainment shows such as Winx Club Volumes 1 and 2, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Volumes 1, 2, and 3, etc.
- Also shows up on various Bratz DVD releases including "Rock n Princess", "Pariz" and "Fashion Pixiez".
- Some earlier releases such as Volumes 2-4 of Pokemon Chronicles have the logo on the packaging but use the previous logo on-screen.
- DVD releases of Contender's theatrical releases instead use the Contender Films logo as a de-facto home video logo.
- Later reprints of Peppa Pig releases plaster this logo with the Entertainment One logo instead.
