Background
Dentsu is a Japanese international advertising and public relations joint stock company headquartered in Tokyo. It is currently the largest advertising agency in Japan and the fifth largest advertising agency network in the world in terms of worldwide revenues. Dentsu does business with almost every major institution in Japan, accounting for about 28 percent of the national advertising budget. Its connections to the government are so tight that The New York Times referred to it as "the unofficial communications department of the governing Liberal Democratic Party", and it has also been likened to the CIA on account of its reach.
Animated Logos
1st Logo (mid/late 1980s-unknown retirement year)
Visuals: On a black background, a bright silver pointed "D" zooms back, settling into place. Shades of reflecting rainbows from two faint copies of the same letter fade in and merge into a straight line in which flashes, then the "D" itself afterwards. "DENTSU" either fades or flashes in underneath it.
Technique: Backlit cel animation.
Audio: A 4-note synth string.
Availability: Appears on VHS/Laserdisc releases of certain movies, such as Dentsu Environment Video Series - Video Wallpaper. It's very difficult to find due to its few appearances.
2nd Logo (2008?-)
Visuals: On a gray background, white strings made out of ripples appear, which decrease to form the word "dentsu".
Technique: Computer animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen on a majority of movies and anime it has appeared on, such as Close Knit and While the Women are Sleeping.
In-Credit Logos
