Background

Horipro (ホリプロ) is a large Japanese talent agency, as well as being an independent music publisher. It was established in May of 1960 by Takeo Hori under the name Hori Production, then renamed to it's current moniker in October of 1990.

1st Logo (November 1987)

Visuals: On a white background, the teal "HORI PRODUCTION", the first word of the latter having the O represented by a vinyl icon, alongside "PRESENTS" underneath fade in with a gray drop shadow.

Technique: Chyroned fading effects.

Audio: None.

Availability: So far, only spotted on the Laserdisc release of Yuko Nito's Just Like Summer Face... (Summer Face のままで...).

2nd Logo (2001?-Late 2000s)

Visuals: On a zooming starfield, a spinning vortex of colorful streak-drawn star particles emerge from the center and start to overtake the screen's sides. From the center emerges a blurry colorful shape in between the stars, while the letters for "HORIPRO" zoom away from the screen and get close to each other while adjusting rotation. The blurry shape decreases to be revealed a colorful outlined star out of red, yellow, lime, green, cyan, blue and orange streaks. The particles then decrease.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth chime culminating to a proudful orchestral fanfare with a flurry of chimes heard, ending with a hit of the latter fanfare.

Availability: Shown on DVD releases of various Summers Live volumes, Akai kiseki and Hori mo no mane tandoku raibu hon'nin fuzai! Cho, matteyo!! (ホリものまね単独ライブ 本人不在! ちょ、待てよ!!).

3rd Logo (October 16, 2010-April 6, 2018)

Visuals: On a starfield full of colorful and mostly white shooting stars, a yellow hand-drawn star with shadows rises down with a white glow and rainbow trail of sparkles following it. The star then dissipates into seven glowing colorful stars from the ROYGBIV order, and separate themselves with the rainbow trail now following the respective colors of each star. The stars then settle into horizontal order as they morph into "HORIPRO", as the starfield fades with the shooting stars remaining for a short period of time. One of the shooting stars land on the tip of the "I", flashing and turning itself to a drawn star. The shooting stars fade away while the screen slowly backs out.

Variant: On it's first day of usage, known to appear in The Incited Mill, has the cursive "50th" written by a sparkly white trail, commemorating it's 50th anniversary 4 months later.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth-pad infused spacey ambience theme plays on the background with a ding at the end.

Audio Variants:

  • On I'M FLASH!, the theme remains absent.
  • On some cases, the opening theme plays over the logo.

Availability: First seen on The Incited Mill, and is last seen on Call Boy.

4th Logo (March 5, 2021-)

Visuals: From a white background, various sequences showing off colorful particles emerge starting from yellow, green/cyan, red and purple. At the last sequence, the colored particles collide to each other as it then cuts to another sequence as a star is drawn by streaks with dodger blue circle streaks from each tip of the star, with "HORIPRO" underneath it. When finished, the star is revealed to have green, yellow, purple, pink and red colors each.

Variants:

  • On it's first day of usage, known to appear on The Sun Does Not Move, has the rest of the near-completion sequence shifted slightly upwards to make room for "60th" to be drawn in to commemorate it's 60th anniversary a year later.
  • On All the Long Nights, the rest of the logo is inverted and in grayscale. The theme also remains absent.

Technique: Stop-motion animation.

Audio: A descending 10-note piano tune leading to a guitar/violin string theme with an ascending string ending.

Availability: First seen on The Sun Does Not Move, then later appears on The End of the Pale Hour and All the Long Nights.
