Background
This was a horror-themed label created by PBV Video.
Logo (Early 1980s)
Visuals: Against a black background, lights wipe in the words "Playaround VIDEO", with "Playaround" in a cursive font, and "VIDEO" in the Eurostile font, both coloured lilac pink with a blue glow. A couple of stars blink on the logo, which then zooms out, and another light draws in a pink circle, extending from the "d" and with the text now on the bottom of the circle when it finishes. After it finishes, a flash can be seen and the logo shines all over.
Variant: At the end of tapes, the logo is completely still, surrounded by a bright aura covering the circle barring the text.
Technique: Computer effects.
Audio: A burbly synth sound, then a synth-keyboard tune, complete with a "twinkle" as the circle is drawn, and then, one final laser zap sound.
Audio Variant: On the November 1983 release of Lady Grey, a male announcer (from the PBV logo) says "Welcome to Playaround Video's brand new releases for November '83."
Availability: It can be seen on old PBV tapes, primarily horror films. Tapes that had this include Slaughter in San Francisco and Lady Grey.
