Background

Treehouse is a Canadian TV channel oriented towards younger children. It was launched on November 1, 1997 as a subsidiary of YTV (who also co-launched Teletoon on October 17 of that year). Its name comes from YTV's former programming block, The Treehouse. Currently, it is owned by YTV Canada, Inc., itself owned by Corus Entertainment.

1st Logo (1999-2013)

Visuals: On a black background, the word "Treehouse" is seen in a green decorative font with a yellow trim. Underneath, there is the byline, whose animation varies depending on which byline.

Bylines:

  • 1999: "A SHAW) Company" with "SHAW)" being the 1997-2012 Shaw logo and the rest being in Garamond font.
  • 1999-2002: The 1999 Corus logo with "A CORUS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" in two lines, placed next to it. The byline moves up from the bottom.
  • 2000-2009: "A COrUs Entertainment Company" with "COrUs" in its corporate font. The byline blurs in.
  • 2004-2013: "A COrUs ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" with "COrUs" in its corporate font. The byline blurs in a different way.
  • On some shows, the logo is bylineless. If this was used during the Corus era, then the Corus Entertainment logo will follow.

Variants:

  • On Quebec French dubs of some of their shows, "Produit en Association avec" ("Produced in Association with") in Hobo typeface fades in below. An English version with the text above the logo appeared on The Berenstain Bears.
  • An in-credit version exists on shows such as Ants in Your Pants, Tipi Tales and Crazy Quilt.
  • There are three versions: a clean version (Shaw and first Corus byline), a pseudo-filmed version that looks like it was taken off an old television (second Corus byline and bylineless versions), or a darker version of the clean version (third Corus byline).
  • On 2003-2006 episodes of 4 Square, a copyright year blurs in with the byline, or is already there on earlier episodes.
  • This logo would come in either the standard 4:3 version or the widescreen 16:9 version.
    • A cropped (or stretched, in some cases) 16:9 version is used on early widescreen shows.
    • A true 16:9 version is used on some later widescreen shows until it was switched to the 3rd logo. It was often used on the open matte version of the logo on some 4:3 shows.

Technique: A fading effect.

Audio: None, or the closing theme of the show. On I Can Do It!, Wanna Play? and Grandma, Look What I Found!, kids are heard laughing during the logo.

Availability: Seen on Treehouse shows from 1999 to 2013, including Treetown, Wanna Play?, Toopy & Binoo, Max & Ruby, Pumper Pups, Wumpa’s World, 4 Square, Dragon, Wee 3, The Mole Sisters, Roll Play, Seven Little Monsters, The Berenstain Bears, Franklin, The Toy Castle, Farzzle’s World, later episodes of Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, This Is Daniel Cook and its sequel This Is Emily Yeung and Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs, among others.

Legacy: This logo is well-known for those who grew up with Treehouse series.

2nd Logo (January 6-October 22, 2003)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the white text "Produced in Association with" above the alternate Treehouse logo used during the time.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the show or silence.

Availability: It was only seen on a double feature block with The Berenstain Bears and Seven Little Monsters on PBS. Modern releases of both series use the previous logo.

3rd Logo (2007-2013)

Visuals: It starts by panning down on the sunny skyline of a lawn, with elements such as a house, flowers, flying bees, and a rainbow forming. The Treehouse logo then assembles from the left of the screen (the green text bounces in before the yellow border settles behind it), which is in the same design as before, only more slanted upright a bit, and the screen zooms out a little bit as the rainbow ends and a white glow emits from behind the logo. The Corus byline appears (except that the byline is all white, still with "Corus" in its corporate font, but the rest of the text is set in an italicized Arial font), and a bird lands on the top of the logo's 3rd "e".

Trivia: This is basically the Treehouse "Rainbow" ID (which aired between September 2004 and April 2013) with the Corus byline.

Variants:

  • For the logo's first year, the word "Entertainment" in the Corus byline is accidently misspelled as "Entertaiment".
  • In-credit versions exist on shows such as Waybuloo, Mike the Knight and Big & Small.
  • On UK airings of The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, a still version appears.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A shortened version of the channel's jingle, which consists of children singing "You're watching Treehouse!" over a sparkling synth chord. Otherwise, it's the closing theme of the show. On Toot & Puddle, a kid laughing is heard.

Audio Trivia: If one plays the logo in slow-motion, they'll notice that the vocals are pitch-corrected.

Availability: Appears on 2007-2013 episodes of Treehouse shows such as Max & Ruby on seasons 4 and 5, Are We There Yet?: World Adventure, Franklin and Friends, the revival episodes of Caillou, My Friend Rabbit, Toot & Puddle, My Big Big Friend, Zigby, and Canadian prints of Guess with Jess (international prints use the Nelvana logo of the time instead). This also plasters the first logo whenever Nickelodeon USA airs older episodes of Max & Ruby. This appears on Nickelodeon airings of season 6 of Max and Ruby in place of the next logo. The variant with the misspelled byline can be found on a handful of My Friend Rabbit episodes.

Legacy: This is also remembered by those who watched Treehouse.

4th Logo (2013-April 9, 2020)

Visuals: On a grassy field on a sunny day, with a butterfly and some flowers, the letters of a cleaner and revised version of the Treehouse logo bounce up and stop in midair. A yellow banner reading "ORIGINAL" spaced out squeezes out from below. The Corus byline fades in below.

Trivia: This logo was made to fit the new rebranding, which occured in April 2013.

Bylines:

  • 2013-2016: "A Corus ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" with "Corus" being the old, 1999-2016 Corus logo and "ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" a bit spaced out.
  • 2016-April 9, 2020: "A corus. COMPANY" with "corus." being the new and current 2016 Corus logo.

Variants:

  • An in-credit version exists on shows like Dinopaws.
  • Just like they did with the 2014-17 YTV logo, this logo also goes ahead and they used the text "Produced in association with Corus." with the "Corus." text also in white.

Technique: CGI by Amblagar Studio.

Audio: Popping sounds as the letters bounce and an extra one as "ORIGINAL" appears and birds chirping in the background.

Audio Variants:

  • Sometimes, the ending theme of the show is used instead.
  • On Mike the Knight, it's silent.

Availability:

  • Appears on new episodes of old Treehouse shows and newer shows such as the Splash N' Boots shorts, Mike the Knight, Trucktown, Little Charmers, the first two seasons of Ranger Rob, Rusty Rivets (outside Canada and on CBC, this is replaced with the Nickelodeon Productions logo), This is Scarlett and Isaiah, and early episodes of The Dog & Pony Show.
  • The variant with the new byline can be seen on season 6 of Max & Ruby.
  • This was later replaced by the current Corus Entertainment logo, alongside the removal of several other Corus channels' logos, so this logo doesn't appear on most later Treehouse shows or seasons like Snowsnaps, Corn & Peg, the third and final season of Ranger Rob, Agent Binky: Pets of the Universe, or Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go!, which all use the Corus logo instead.

Final Note

In April 2020, this logo was replaced by the Corus logo, alongside the removal of the YTV, Teletoon, Global, ABC Spark, CMT, HGTV, Food Network, and W Network logos.
