Background

White Mountain Films is a New Hampshire-based production company established by British photographer George Butler, where he named the company after the White Mountains in the state.[1]

1st Logo (January 18, 1977)

Visuals: On a black background, a thin rectangle border fades in, followed with "A White Mountain Film" over the upper-left corner. From the right, an image of the Squam Lake engraving made by British artist William Henry Bartlett, fades in. The small "From Cinema 5" fades over the lower-left corner.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: None.

2nd Logo (May 3, 1985)

Visuals: On a black or blue background, there is a hedcut illustration of a bear over a hill in a snowy day, surrounded over a black box extended to the bottom with a white outline around it. Inside the box beneath the illustration is "A White Mountain Film". Underneath all that is "in Association with: GymTech USA Inc.".

Trivia: The bear featured in the logo was illustrated by Kevin Sprouls.[2]

Technique: A still, printed graphic.

Audio: The opening theme.

Availability: Shown on Pumping Iron II: The Women.

3rd Logo (September 9, 1989)

Visuals: Over a panoramic shot of a faintly noticeable mountain behind hills and forests, a red horizontal bar draws in from the center, as "A White Mountain Film" fades above. The bar and text fades out before the shot.

Technique: Live-action footage with cel animation.

Audio: Sounds of a flock of birds chirping.

Availability: Shown on In the Blood.
