Background

Xebec, Inc. was a Japanese animation studio based in Kokubunji, Tokyo, founded by former Tatsunoko Production animators on May 1, 1995. They worked on many popular series, such as Nadesico, Love Hina, Keijo, Shaman King, Fafner, To Love Ru, and Space Battleship Yamato remakes 2199 and 2202.

Animated Logos

1st Logo (May 9-November 6, 1997)

Visuals: On a dark tunnel, there are many glowing yellow, cyan and magenta balls of light trespassing the tunnel, as well as the screen panning. A dim rotating chevron shape suddenly appears as the screen rotates into view for the chevron to settle, as it suddenly reveals the letters for "EBEC", with the stems for the E's off-center until they move respectively to its places, with the chevron changing into an "X" shape. The tunnel goes dim with the remaining elements turning azure as it quickly glows, thus preceding to the ING logo by crossfading.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A deep, held eerie-sounding synth pad note with synth sounds for the elements.

Availability: Appears on VHS and Laserdisc volumes of Martian Successor Nadesico.

2nd Logo (Mid 2000s-2019?)

Visuals: On a dim clockwise-rotating green cloudy background within a charcoal gray letterbox overlay, part of the "X" from the outlined logo quickly zooms out and rotating counterclockwise, with a residue trail, followed by the rest of the four letters flickering next to it with blue glow. Whilst this happens, the elements get overloaded by white particles that zoom towards them, which then cause a bright light blue-white flash. The particles dissolve, with the complete logo in a navy gradient color and in a white outline, along the IPA transcription above in the Courier typeface. The logo shines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A sudden whoosh with a clang, followed by more sudden whooshes, and glimmering sounds.

Availability: Appeared on DVDs of the company's works, such as To Love Ru and Pandora Hearts, aswell as the NIS America release of the latter.

Logo (October 3, 1995-May 17, 2019)

Visuals: There is the 1995 Xebec wordmark on a white superimposed font.

Technique: Superimposed animation.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: Can be seen on television series and franchises produced by them, such as To Love Ru.
