Background

Europictures is an Italian film distributor and production company founded in 2009.

Logo (September 25, 2014-)

Visuals: On a white background, a vertically curving, red, and transparent filmstrip with gold perforations scrolls upwards and exits the screen. The same object re-enters and curves towards the centre and then upwards, forming a looping, vertical path. An upwards scrolling light transforms the object into a red pepper by shredding the filmstrip into pieces and merging them to form the vegetable. It zooms out and then "EUROP CTURES" forms through a reverse disintegration effect letter by letter. Following this, a gold crown spins and scrolls downwards, placing itself on top of the pepper.

Variant: There exists a later variant where the transformations involving the light and disintegrating are replaced with fading and wiping respectively.

Technique: 2D computer animation by GM QUADRO.[1]

Audio: After a film projector rolling sound, there is an ominous set of whoosh, either muffled or reversed. Following this, electric zapping, and a reversed timpani roll resembling thunder plays. Several more, separate beats from the percussions instrument play until the end.

Audio Variant: In the later variant, a quick and elegant piano soundtrack with a deep violin track is heard. Afterward, a high pitched set of piano and flute notes played alongside a triangle track are performed.

Availability: The logo is seen on Pasolini, The Price of Crime, Il traduttore, and Perfetta illusione.
