Background

Heliopolis Films was a film production company from Egypt.

1st Logo (March 21, 1953-July 25, 1954)

Visuals: Fading in, there is a picture of a landscape containing the Giza complex with a stylized, slightly hollow shield bearing an Eagle landing on top of three circles bearing "الاتحاد النظام العمل", although the second circle is slightly positioned downwards. After some time, the company name "شركة افلام مصر الجديدة" in a Nastaliq typeface, along with a small "تقدم" flips into view, stopping when it becomes fully visible and in front of the image.

Variant: On The Lady Pickpocket, the logo simply consisted of the text on a black background.

Technique: A filmed painting with chroma-keyed practical effects for the text.

Audio: A militaristic brass fanfare.

Availability: Seen in Ismail Yassine Meets a Ghost and Cruel Injustice. The early version on the other hand was spotted on The Lady Pickpocket.

2nd Logo (April 20, 1953)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the new company logo sitting in the middle consisting of two small circular wreaths and the same Eagle landing on top of a differently-styled emblem, that being a gray shield displaying a dark-colored bottom half with a white crescent with three white stars inside of it (actually part of the old Egyptian flag from 1953-1958), and a rectangular upper half containing three vertically-aligned circles containing the same text from before, as well as a filmstrip containing the Arabic company name "شركة افلام مصر الجديدة" in black. Below the symbol is "تقدم" in white.

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: A militaristic brass fanfare.

Availability: Seen only in Witness, People.

3rd Logo (January 22-May 23, 1955)

Visuals: There is a huge pedestal displaying a big arched "مصر الجديدة", and a small "أفلام" standing on top of a platform being supported by two Arabic characters part of "الجديدة". On the pedestal, there is a small handwritten "تقدم", while around it, some numerous skyscrapers with two containing a spotlight shining behind the pedestal, and appearing to be on top of tallgrass.

Variant: On Brides for Auction, the logo is much more detailed, with there being visible shadows around the scenery and a starfield filling the sky. The camera also zooms in towards the logo, zooming out a few seconds after stopping.

Technique: A filmed painting.

Audio: The film's opening theme.

Audio Variant: On Brides for Auction, the previous logos' was heard instead.

Availability: Seen in The Unknown Lover and Brides for Auction.

4th Logo (December 19, 1983)

Visuals: On a red-dark blue background with a orange horizontal line in the center, two copies of the Arabic name, both with a multicolored pink-violet trail and one being upside down, appear and rise from the center for a short amount of time before stopping above the line simultaneously. Small yellow text "صلاح محمد" then fades in below the upright company name, which is then followed by a white "تقدم" fading in below the upside-down company name. The logo then fades out.

Technique: Stop-motion animation and chroma-keyed effects.

Audio: A nine-note rising string fanfare.

Availability: Only seen in The Addict.
