Background

Jupiter Pictures was an Indian Tamil-language feature film production company founded in 1934 by M. Somasundaram (popularly known as "Jupiter Somu") and S.K. Mohideen. In the late 40s and early 50s, they operated out of Central Studios in Coimbatore, and eventually, following the closure of the studio, they relocated their studio to Chennai and took over Neptune Studio which would later become Sathya Studios. The company went defunct in 1983.



1st Logo (April 11, 1947)

Visuals: Over a sunset landscape, there's a silhouetted sketch of a woman on a carriage riding two horses on a hill, with a star sitting on the left side of the woman's head. In front of the sketch, there's a set of white gothic text that says:

Present

Later on, the text fades into its Tamil translation.

Technique: A still photograph.

Audio: The film's opening theme.

Availability: It is only seen on Rajakumari.

2nd Logo (May 6, 1948)

Visuals: The logo now takes place on a black background with the sketch of the same woman on a chariot now fully visible. In front of the sketch is the same stacked company name but more thinner and rounded. Similar to the previous logo, the text fades into its Tamil translation.

Technique: It appears to be a photograph of a model.

Audio: The film's opening theme.

Availability: It is only seen on Abhimanyu.

3rd Logo (December 24, 1955)

Visuals: Over a stylized black frame, the same woman on a chariot sketch but with the star now having an outline is shown in a small size and in the middle with the same set of text used in the first logo in front.

Technique: It appears to be a hand-drawn graphic.

Audio: The film's opening theme.

Availability: It is only seen on the Telugu film Santosham.
