Background

Les Films Minerva was a French production and distribution company.



1st Logo (March 12, 1937)

Visuals: The screen fades to a starfield with transparent moving clouds heading towards the right side of the screen. Shortly after, A logo consisting of a grey circle displaying a model of the head of the Roman goddess Minerva with an arched "LES FILMS" on top and "MINERVA" and a small cursive "présentent" below the former word underneath the circle fades in the middle of the screen and zooms in for a short while, stopping after it reaches close to the screen.

Technique: Cel animation and camera-controlled animation.

Audio: The film's opening theme.

Availability: Seen only in Les dégourdis de la 11ème.

2nd Logo (June 25, 1941-September 20, 1943)

Visuals: The screen fades into a grey wall with a carving of Minerva's left-facing head within an oval frame in the middle. After a few seconds, "LES FILMS MINERVA" in black and serif along with a smaller "PRÉSENTENT" fade in front of the frame simultaneously.

Trivia: The logo appears as part of the opening credits of Le diamant noir.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: A bombastic brass fanfare.

Audio Variant: The opening theme of the film was used in L'homme qui vendit son âme.

Availability: Seen only in Le diamant noir, Fièvres, and L'homme qui vendit son âme.

3rd Logo (April 14, 1943)

Visuals: Fading into a starfield, and after a few seconds, another model of Minerva's head facing left with a warped "MINERVA" in serif fades in the middle and zooms in for a short period, with a smaller warped "PRÉSENTENT" sitting below the former word, and a carved, arched "LES FILMS" sitting above the head of Minerva. The logo then stops zooming after a few seconds.

Audio: An alteration of the previous logo's fanfare, with the notable difference being the first part playing twice.
