Impact Films Investment Limited
Background
Impact Films Investment Limited (藝能影業有限公司, also known as Movie Impact Limited) was a Hong Kong movie studio founded by Wallace Cheung and Clarence Yip in November 1985.
1st Logo (September 17, 1986-January 11, 1996)
Visuals: On a black background, many black lines and polygon shapes morph in with a blue glow, forming an abstract "E". The logo glows brightly before turning white, before the background turns white (or cyan along with the logo itself, due to film deterioration). The Mandarin translation "藝能影業有限公司" wipes in red with a drop shadow, followed by the text "MOVIE IMPACT LIMITED" in black.
Variant: On What a Wonderful World (1996) (the company's final film), it uses the word "MOVIE IMPACT (PTE) LIMITED" text was used. This logo proceeds to the next logo.
Technique: 2D effects.
Audio: A low synthesizer drone and a synth harpsichord/bell/choir arpeggio is heard when the logo is formed. A laser 'zap' is heard when the logo turns white, a held brass chord and a calmer bell tune, with xylophones tinkles when the text wipes in.
Availability: Seen on films produced at the time, like Magic Crystal, City Cops, Alan & Eric: Between Hello and Goodbye and What a Wonderful World (1996).
2nd Logo (May 9, 1992-January 11, 1996)
Visuals: On a black background, a gold stripe slides in, followed by more stripes sliding in and gold polygon shapes flying in, forming the logo from before, but in gold and having a space between the shapes and lines. Th logo then zooms out to the top of the screen, in which a light wipes in the Mandarin characters "藝能電影投資有限公司". "IMPACT FILMS INVESTMENT LIMITED" then fades in below the logo, which shines like a spotlight.
Technique: Backlit cel animation.
Audio: A short version of "Headlines" by Alan Hawkshaw, which was famously used in break bumpers for National Mutual.
Availability: Seen on films funded by the company at the time, like The Twilight of the Forbidden City, Hero from Beyond the Boundary of Time, The Tigers: The Legend of Canton and What a Wonderful World (1996).
