Background

Prakash Mehra Productions is an Indian film company founded by Prakash Mehra, a legendary Indian film director and producer known for his work in Bollywood.

1st Logo (May 11, 1973-June 29, 2001)

Visuals: On a nearly salmon-pink background with a bunch of smoke, there is a silhouette of a large clay oval standing upright on a platform, featuring what looks like text. The light turns up and reveals that the oval consists the big stone letters "PMP" in brownish-gray, seemingly laid against the oval. Over the letter M is what looks like a red flame, and underneath the "PMP" on the platform is the text "PRAKASH MEHRA PRODUCTIONS" also in stone.

Variant: On Sharaabi, the logo appears in the middle of a set of pink and red smoke.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A shrill violin sound which is ascending and descending four times, followed by three horn notes played in different pitches to denote the letters.

Audio Variants: On the prints of the film Sharaabi (Drunkard), the logo plays normally but the music is played in reverse. On Zanjeer (Shackles), the first film to feature the logo, the music is a simple sitar theme with the quiet beat.

Availability: Featured on several films produced by Prakash Mehra. The last film to feature the logo is Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao.

2nd Logo (September 6, 2013)

Visuals: The sequence begins on the stratosphere, with a lot of clouds below us. The camera zooms inwards to the peak of a mountain (which is above the clouds) where we see the "PMP" (this time carved in stone), with a fire ball over the M. Below the rock initials is the text "PRAKASH MEHRA PRODUCTIONS" carved in stone, which is in orange.

Technique: CGI Animation.

Audio: A rhythmical melody with drums, clapping, and a chord instrument.

Availability: Seen only on the 2013 remake of Zanjeer.
