Background
Roundtable Film and Video (formerly Roundtable Productions) was an American educational company based in Beverly Hills, California, that lasted from sometime in the 1950s to sometime in the 1990s.
Roundtable Productions
1st (known) Logo (1962?-1970?)
-
Closing variant
-
"R"-less variant
Visuals: A giant "R" is seen surrounded by 16 ovals with "A ROUNDTABLE PRODUCTION" overlapping the letter "R". A copyright notice can be seen underneath the circle of ovals. A few seconds later, the ovals start disappearing one by one in a random order.
Variant:
- A variant without the giant "R" in the middle exists.
- On some films such as I Just Work Here, this logo (excluding the text) can be seen throughout the credits, whether if it's the opening or closing ones.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: First, the ending music of the film. When that concludes, there is some xylophone noises as the ovals disappear.
Availability: Seen on their films from the time such as Overcoming Resistance to Change.
2nd (known) Logo (1967?-1983?)
-
Opening Version
-
Closing Version
-
A different version of the Roundtable Productions logo changed into Roundtable Films In (1983)
Visuals: The logo starts with "ROUNDTABLE PRODUCTIONS" stacked and in white on a black background, then the colored circles start popping up around the text in a clockwise direction. The text fades out and "presents" fades in.
Variant: The closing variant of this logo is essentially the backwards version of the original except "BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA" is added beneath the company's name and that "ROUNDTABLE" is bigger than "PRODUCTIONS".
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: A flute like soundtrack.
Availability: It appeared on Meeting In Progress and Anatomy of a Presentation.
Roundtable Film and Video
Logo (1984?-19??)
Visuals: Centered on a black background is a leveled circular platform, outlined in a bluish gray. Then, one by one, sixteen disks of various colors come flying from the top of the screen onto the left side of the platform (in order: magenta, hot pink, red, scarlet, orange, yellow, lime, chartreuse, green, sea green, teal, cyan, sky blue, blue, indigo, purple). The disks rotate clockwise around the center continuously while the platform changes its angle to face the screen. In the center appear the words (in yellow) ROUNDTABLE FILM & VIDEO. The logo then fades out.
Variant: The closing variant has the same platform from before. The colored disks fall from the right side the platform in the exact same order of colors as when they flew in from the opening variant. Once all the disks fall off, the platform fades out, leaving only the words behind.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A synth accompanied with a series of whooshes when the disks fly onto the platform, followed by a series of chimes when the text appears.
Audio Variant: The closing variant uses a similar synth, with descending chimes as each disk falls off the platform.
Availability: Seen on films from the time such as More Than Money. The only footage that exists is filmed, but a videotaped version might exist as well.
