Background

The Wing-Scope Co. was founded in early 1970s by brothers Alan "Student Prince" Tang and Rover Tang. The company focuses primarily on crime-themed movie. In 1984, they focuses on a few romance, drama, and comedy movies. They later set up another company called In-Gear.

Logo (November 23, 1977-August 13, 1987)

Visuals: On a white (later sky blue) background, a red "TWS" in a font similar to the Sega logo zooms in a la the Viacom "V of Doom" until it engulfs the screen with red. When it engulfs the screen, the same logo in yellow zooms in and then rests just above the middle of the screen. Chinese characters zoom out from the middle of the screen and "THE WING-SCOPE CO." appears above.

Variant: Later in it's life, the Chinese characters are different and appear below and "THE WING SCOPE FILM PRODUCTION LTD." appears in the Peignot font.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: This logo had various fanfares.

The first uses of this had a 1-note somewhat bombastic fanfare, with some quiet sounds at the end.
It also used another bombastic fanfare.
It used a demonic-sounding fanfare, with drum rolls, synths notes sounding like bird chirping and some rock guitar notes.
It also used various rock themes.
It also used a calm, repeating horn-dominant fanfare.
It also used a progressive synth theme.

Availability: It was seen on films such as New York Chinatown.

-Logo: On a starry background, a spinning film reel fades in. The filmstrip then comes out of the film reel and slowly writes the script "Ingear", which shines. Once the filmstrip stops writing the text, and a star flashes at the end of it. "Ingear" keeps on shining, while the English and Chinese names in pink fade in below and also shine.
-Variant: There exists a dark variant and a bright variant.
-FX/SFX: The film reel appearing, the filmstrip coming out and writing, the word shining, the names fading in.
-Music/Sounds: A slow ascending synth theme, with a high-pitched sound while the last note plays, followed by a random, sci-fi synth.
-Availability: Appeared on In-Gear's earlier films, most of them where horror comedy type ones.
-Editor's Note: The darkness and ominous synth will bother people, mostly those expecting the next logo.

-Logo: On a similar starry background, several bright lights in group fade in, zoom out, and flash, bringing up a neon film reel that's different from the one from before. The film reel moves to the left with a trail and flashes, filling it up with a metallic material. The golden filmstrip comes out of the real, making the "Ingear" from before. The English name zooms out with blue lights in front, and the lights move to the text, making it flash. The Chinese characters appear below the name letter-by-letter, and also flash.
-FX/SFX: Everything looks like an improvement of the previous logo.
-Music/Sounds: A bombastic synth fanfare with drums.
-Availability: Seen on In-Gear's later films.
-Editor's Note: The flashes and synth music are pretty startling, but this is a favorite among Hong Kong logo fans.
