Background

Independent Moving Pictures (IMP) was an early American film production company and studio founded in 1909 by Carl Laemmle, based in New York. In 1912, IMP merged with several other companies to form the Universal Film Manufacturing Company (now Universal Pictures).

Logo (1913)

Visuals: On a black background, two Corinthian columns flank the screen, with a checkered floor below. Above the screen is a large statue of an imp's face grinning, with a robe behind it. Below the imp is a plaque reading "IMP". After a few seconds, the title of the film wipes in below from bottom to top.
