Background

Paper Canoe Studio is a Brooklyn-based film production company founded by Tami Stronach and Greg Steinbruner.

Logo (July 28, 2024)

Visuals: On a white background and set on a wooden floor, blue sticky notes are spreading away from a stack and forming a pile. Then, a canoe made of cardboard enters from the left and pushing the sticky notes to the side, treating it like water. The sticky notes begin forming "PAPER CANOE" against the white wall. A side angle shows the canoe passing by the text and moving the sticky notes on the floor out of the way to unveil a water pattern below the text. When the floor disappears, "CO.", in deep sky blue, bounces up from below and splits the water path as well as a formed horizontal line in half. Then, as the logo becomes black, "PAPER CANOE" becomes non-serif and "BK" and "NY" appear on the left and right sections of the screen.

Technique: Live-action stop-motion and Flash animation.

Audio: It begins with stacking sounds that segue into water flowing. When the canoe appears, an ascending guitar strum and a harmonica background track plays, followed by a melodic acapella jingle. The sequence ends with two droplets.

Availability: The logo is seen on Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps.
