Background

Thanhouser Company was an American film production company founded in 1909 by Edwin Thanhouser, his wife Gertrude and his brother-in-law Lloyd Lonergan. By next year, the company excelled in independent filmmaking with over 75 films produced in 1910, many of which being adaptations of classic literature and short stories. Over the years, the film industry has evolved and become more competitive, resulting in less success with the exception of those starring Florence La Badie, who would later leave the company in 1917. Three years later, Thanhouser went defunct and later absorbed into First National Pictures
