Background

2D Boy is an indie game development company formed by former Electronic Arts employees Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel. They are best known for making the famous game World Of Goo.

Logo (October 13, 2008-)

Visuals: On a black background, a white hand places the text "2D BOY" on screen, leaving small splatters with each letter placed. The hand then wipes the text, smearing it into a white blob with the text "PRESENTS"" on it, and then the logo flies to the left to transition to the title screen.

Variants:

  • On the trailers, the logo fades out just as the letters are placed.
  • On World of Goo 2, the hand has slightly rougher animation and now has 5 fingers, and after the 2D Boy logo is finished, the hand slaps the logo to create a credit for Tomorrow Corporation, before wiping it away to reveal the white blob, although the text says "PRESENT" and lacks the splatters around it.
  • On their old website, there are no splats and the word "ENTERTAINMENT" appears on the bottom after the animation is done.

Technique: Flash animation.

Audio: The main menu music.

Availability: Seen on the game World of Goo and later used in World of Goo 2.
