Background
Dovetail Games is a British video game developer and publisher established in 2008 by Paul Jackson, Tim Gatland, Charlie McMicking, and other development team members from Kuju Entertainment as RailSimulator.com Ltd. Over the years, they have mainly developed simulator games and become well known for RailWorks, Train Sim World, Euro Fishing, and Fishing Sim World. On December 9, 2013, the company changed its name to its current name. On April 20, 2023, Dovetail Games was acquired by Focus Entertainment.
1st Logo (November 4, 2014-February 23, 2023)
Visuals: On a white background, four white cubes with one of their faces coloured dodger blue merge in the centre of the screen while it gradually rotates quicker. For the next few seconds, the cubes are joined by other blocks as they form a large, 9x9 cube that become a singular block with the addition of one, larger block from the right. As the dodger blue side of the block faces the screen, the inside hole of it shines to reveal two opposite facing "G"'s with a short horizontal bar in the top centre. As that element shines, "dovetail GAMES" in a stacked format fades in below the logo.
Variants:
- Sometimes, the logo is still.
- The logo may be shown in print form and displayed on either a white or black background where it is also joined by copyright information.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A quiet, deep bong note plays until all the cubes merge into one. As the mergers happen, the sounds of a train chugging are heard. When the logo shines, a high-pitched ringing sound plays.
Availability: The logo debuted on Euro Fishing and was later seen on the first three Fishing Sim World games, The Catch: Carp & Coarse, and Catan: Console Edition, the last of which being the logo's last appearance.
2nd Logo (September 26, 2023-)
Visuals: On a blurry light pink-tinted background, the outline of the logo from before without the contents of the box is drawn first, followed by it gaining a grey fill. The logo zooms in to reveal small white particles rising within the box. After the box shines, the logo zooms back to its original size where a splash-like transition fills the logo in cyan and gave the box the symbol from before. The liquid-like texture in the logo's fill becomes flattened with the text becoming grey.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A rising synthesized note increasing in volume leading to a thud is heard, followed by two descending high-pitched piano-like notes, the last of which is held, and two water droplet sounds.
Availability: The logo debuted on Train Sim World 4.
