The EyeToy was a peripheral used in conjunction with Sony's PlayStation 2. Launched in late 2003, this was a camera that could track a player's motions. There were some games that were released that required the EyeToy, like EyeToy: Antigrav and the EyeToy: Play series. Other games for the PS2 could be enhanced with EyeToy, as labelled on the game's cover.
1st Logo (2003-2005)
Visuals: It's basically just the EyeToy logo on a white background.
Technique: None.
Audio: None.
Availability: Can be seen on EyeToy: Play and EyeToy: Groove.
2nd Logo (2005)
Visuals: We see the EyeToy mascot, YO (he's made up of the first Y and the O in EyeToy), scoot around and carrying boxes. He chirps a little and one of a few things happens:
Variants:
The camera pans up to see another YO character in a bathtub with a rubber ducky in a martini glass. Everything under him falls. We cut to the EyeToy logo, with "E E" on top and "T Y" on the bottom. YO falls into the gap to complete the company name. The glass falls and the duck lands in it. YO blinks twice.
YO throws everything and marbles fall. YO scoots around in a comical fashion. We cut to the EyeToy logo as mentioned before, except YO bounces around in the background until he slides into the gap, completing the name. Again, YO blinks twice.
YO throws everything and begins dodging falling objects in a comical fashion. Eventually, a copymachine falls on him. The copy machine begins dispensing papers, each with a picture of a battered YO. We cut to the EyeToy logo, and YO scans in. He blinks twice.
Technique: The animation.
Audio: No music. YO will chirp a little here and there and at the end.
Availability: Found on EyeToy: Play 2. Everytime you put this disc in, you get a different variant.
3rd Logo (2005)
Visuals: On a black background, we see YO floating in space. The bottom of the screen gets lighter and we see him skydive. A briefcase opens on the side and papers fall out.
Variants:
Like in the Playtime logo, we see "E E" "T Y", and the gap where YO can fall in. YO falls in and a pair of those glasses with the Groucho Marx mustache fall in front of him. His eyes focus and he blinks.
We see YO already in the logo. He starts floating and then falls down. Again, he blinks twice.
Technique: The animation.
Audio: No music. Assorted sound effects when he skydives, like whooshing and a briefcase opening. On the second variant, a spacey sound plays as he floats.
