Background

Televisió de Mataró (currently tvmataró) is a television station that started broadcasting in July 1984 from a small local located in the lower part of Los Álamos street in Mataró. This place was actually an art gallery called "Tertre", owned by Nico del Río, who gave this space unselfishly. On July 25, 1993, the new tvm facilities were inaugurated in one of the warehouses of the old textile factory "Can Marfà". The city council of Mataró, is the owner of the premises and made a cession for 15 years.

In January 2010 it merged with another local television channel and m1tv was formed, the new brand of both, although it maintains the subtitle "la televisió de Mataró i el Maresme". Subsequently, the merger with Mataró Ràdio took place in 2017. Since then, within the company Mataró Audiovisual, it is renamed first as Mataró Televisió and then as tvmataró.
