Background

8 Mont-Blanc is a local television channel founded in 1989 in Savoie, a department in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The station is headquartered in Sévrier and it broadcasts across France's Alps region.

ID (February 15, 1989-1997)

Visuals: The sequence starts with a black background, in which a white right-angled triangle with an upwards slope is seen rising from the bottom right. The white triangle covers half of the screen, then two gray circles appear on the top left and bottom right corner. The larger square is seen on the top left and has a yellow circle inside whereas the smaller one appears on the bottom right and remains a solid gray. Both circles choppily orbit each other in a clockwise direction, then, after completing the rotation, both circles move closer to each other towards the center to form an upside-down 8. Once the 8 is formed, it blinks before rotating right-side up, zooming out towards the left as it does so. Once it's in position, a gray stylized M appears next to the 8, with the bottom-left part of the letter overlapping the 8's yellow circle. The text "ont Blanc" in the same gray color slides from the right and places itself next to the M.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The intro, solo and last two notes of Generation Swing by Two of Us.
