Background
Daicon Film was started in 1981 by university students Hideaki Anno, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Hiroyuki Yamaga, Takami Akai, Toshio Okada, Yasuhiro Takeda and Shinji Higuchi. This group was meant for animating short films which led to the foundation of Daicon as a separate entity in 1984 before gaining the Gainax name a year later.
