Background

AVROTROS is the merger of Dutch public broadcasters AVRO and TROS. It was founded in 2014.

1st Logo (2014-2016) (opening)

Nickname: "Spinning AVROTROS Circle"

Logo: On a moving live-action background (depending on the variant), we can see the transparent circle with the letter "a" spinning until it stop to the left. After the circle stops moving, the word "AVROTROS" slides from the left until it stops the right of the circle.

Variants:

  • Ballerina - TBA
  • Bladmuziek (Sheet music) - TBA
  • Film - TBA
  • Kogels (Bullets) - TBA
  • Lichtkrant (Marquee) - TBA
  • Microfoon (Microphone) - TBA
  • Paspoort (Passport) - TBA
  • Spotlight - TBA
  • Stethoscoop (Stethoscope) - TBA
  • Toneelkijker (opera glasses) - TBA

FX/SFX: A combination of live-action footage and CGI (the circle spinning).

Music/Sounds: A relaxing guitar tune with sound effects that depend on the variant.

Availability: Extinct. It was only used until 2016.

Editor's Note: TBA

2nd Logo (2014-2018) (closing)

Nickname: "At Home with AVROTROS", "Spinning AVROTROS Circle II"

Logo: TBA

FX/SFX: TBA

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous logo.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: Same as the previous logo.

3rd Logo (2016-October 1, 2020) (opening)

Nickname: "Eye of AVROTROS"

Logo: On a light blue background, a scattered amount of blobs of water began to move, forming the eye, which began from the cornea until the retina. As the cornea grows and explodes, a circle with the letter "a" forms and the word "AVROTROS" fades in.

Variant: In 2018, the logo was updated to include the rotating circle animation from the 4th logo.

FX/SFX: The blobs forming the eye, the growing and explosion of the cornea and the fade in of the letter "a" and the word "AVROTROS".

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: TBA

4th Logo (2018-October 1, 2020) (closing)

Nickname: "At Home with AVROTROS II", "Rotating AVROTROS Circle"

5th Logo (October 1, 2020-)

Nickname: "Shifting AVROTROS"

Logo: On a dark blue background, the words "AVROTROS" zooms in and shifts from left to right and it shifts again to left two times.

Variants:

  • At the end of programs produced/broadcasted by the company, the letters of the logo began to break apart as it zooms out while the program fades out, then the logo plays as normal.
  • During Christmas, the dark blue background is overlaid by snowflakes.

FX/SFX: The words "AVROTROS" shifting from left to right and left.

Music/Sounds: A four-note guitar tune that ends with a snap (similar to the Nintendo Switch startup). The music was composed by Amp.Amsterdam.

Music/Sounds Variant: At the end of programs produced/broadcasted by the company, a cracked sound effect can be heard when the letters of the logo began to break apart, then it follows with a long guitar note.

Availability: Current.

Editor's Note: None.
