Background

Televisora Nacional Canal 5 (also shortened to TVN and Canal 5) was the first public television station to air in Venezuela and started broadcasting in November 22 of 1952. It ceased broadcasting after 1991 for financial reasons and it's signal was taken over by VTV (Venezolana de Television) temporarily until 1998, until the launch of Vale TV.
