Background

The Broadcasting System of Niigata (BSN) opened their television division on December 24, 1958. The station serves as an affiliate of the TBS Television-run Japan News Network for Niigata Prefecture and broadcasts under the callsign JODR-DTV. In 2023, BSN restructured as a holding company, renaming itself to BSN Media Holdings and as a result, the radio and television operations were taken over by a wholly-owned subsidiary bearing the BSN name.

1st ID (Startup, 1970?-April 31, 2001)

Visuals: Over a zooming-out model of Niigata, the words "JODR-TV" in dark green appear first, before fading out to the station information and relay information. After that, the camera zooms out while the 1961 BSN symbol and wordmark consisting of the words "BSN" and the words "新潟放送" in italics and in dark green later appear.

Variants:

  • Around 1987, the station relay information (outside of the callsign) was omitted and the font was changed with a more light green color.
  • Beginning in 1992, the BSN logo was updated, which now consists of the words "BSN" in a futuristic style font. The font was now updated to blue to match BSN's logo color.

Audio: A majestic violin theme.

Audio Variant: Beginning in 1987, the theme's arrangement was changed and was now played in G major.

2nd ID (Closedown, 1970?-1984?)

Visuals: On a shot of BSN's then-headquarters in Niigata, the 1961 BSN wordmark appears in purple before scrolling above to reveal the relay information with all of BSN's relays at that time. After that the 1961 BSN wordmark appears while the station information, the callsign "JODR-TV" and the channel information appear stacked atop of each other.

3rd ID (Closedown, 1984?-December 31, 1993)

Visuals: There is a painting of a forest in the night sky as the callsign "JODR-TV" appear in dark green before fading as the camera fades into an illustration of some critters sleeping as the callsign disappears as the station information later shows up. After that the camera fades into some other shots of critters looking at the moon before moving right to reveal a family of owls sleeping as the words "おやすみなさい......" appears on the top left with the 1961 BSN wordmark and symbol on the bottom right.

Variants:

  • Around 1987, the station relay information (outside of the callsign) was omitted and the font was changed with a more light green color.
  • Beginning in 1992, the BSN logo was updated, which now consists of the words "BSN" in a futuristic style font. The font was now updated to blue to match BSN's logo color.

4th ID (May 1, 2001-December 31, 2011)

Visuals:

  • Startup: The 1992 BSN symbol rises from the sea as the sky turns to blue while the symbol spins around as the callsigns "JODR-TV" appear at the bottom before disappearing as the symbol later spins as the station information appears at the bottom as shots of grass, sunflowers and the city of Niigata appear as reflections on the BSN symbol before later changing to blue as the symbol later stops.
  • Closedown: On a night sky, a dolphin swims around the sea as it jumps before the camera moves to reveal the 1992 BSN symbol as it zooms out. Then, the BSN symbol spins as the station information appears. After the symbol stops, the callsign "JODR-TV" appears in blue while the word "Good night!" in green appears atop of it.

Variant: On the digital feed, the animation was reanimated to fit the widescreen ratio.
