Background

After applying for a preliminary TV license on October 22, 1957, the Yamanashi Broadcasting System (YBS) started its television division on December 20, 1959 as an NTV affiliate before joining their NNN and NNS networks in 1966 and 1972 respectively. Based in Kofu, YBS broadcasts on digital channel 4 under the callsign JOJF-DTV as one of two commercial broadcasters in Yamanashi Prefecture.

1st ID (1976?-2002, July 24, 2011)


Visuals: On a blue background, the text "山梨放送" in italics and in a sharp font arise from atop before fading to reveal a shot of Mount Fuji before being pixelated as an illustration of airwaves later appears before fading to black. Then, the camera cuts to a space background where the words Y, B and S form together separately as multiple RGB letters. After that, the letters form the 1976 YBS symbol as bubbles, squares, a large circle pattern and a square-shaped warp later appear before the 1976 YBS symbol forms itself, surrounded by blue sparks.

Variant: On July 24, 2011 (the date when Japanese analog television switched off in Yamanashi prefecture, where YBS is situated), at 11:58 PM local time, the ident was broadcasted on YBS's analog signal in Kōfu.

Technique: Traditional cel animation.

Audio: A synth electronic theme, known as the "YBS Song".

Audio Variant: The 2011 final analog closedown has the 2002 YBS theme.

2nd ID (2002-March 2006)


Visuals: There is a shot of some mountains during nighttime as a shooting star then passes by before fading into a shot of some flowers as they wake up being surrounded by butterflies, doves and Mt. Fuji as the 2001 Sanichi YBS Group symbol consisting of a red paintbrush-style S with a dot at the bottom forms itself followed by the 2002 YBS wordmark. After that, the 2002 YBS logo, consisting of the 2001 Sanichi YBS symbol alongside the words "YBS山梨放送" in a Helvetica-style font appearing on the right of the symbol.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat acapella and synth rearrangement of the 1970 YBS theme.

Visuals:

  • Startup: There is a shot of Mt. Fuji during early morning hours as the sun rises above the top before as the 2002 YBS logo appears at the bottom before zooming into the sun as the camera fades into black-and-white footage of the station before fading into a shot of their headquarters in Kofu as the camera fades into another shot of it from the present day as the camera fades to the 2002 YBS logo on a white background.
  • Closedown: There is a warp-speed shot of Mt. Fuji as the sun sets before fading into another shot of the mountain as the sun sets. After the station information appears, a shot of Kofu during nighttime appears stating that YBS' broadcast day is concluding before fading to the 2002 YBS logo on a white background.
