Background
Premiere was the original pioneer in broadcasting subscription premium movies via satellite, launched on September 1, 1984. In 1986, it merged with rival film channel Mirrorvision, but kept the brand Premiere. To view Premiere via satellite, an expensive equipment and a dish around 1.5metre in size is needed. It's largest audience was via cable TV. Having ran up losses of around $10 million, could not survive with the high costs of new films and competition from the launch of Sky Movies, the channel shut down in July 31, 1989.
ID (September 1, 1984-July 31, 1989)
Visuals: Lots of lights that came from the "1" are seen. The lights disappear to reveal it and a starfield. Then, "PREM1ERE" zooms out, spins and flies away while a globe flies in. As the globe flies out, gold pixie dust appears forming the "1", alongside the remaining logo. Copyright notice reading "© The Premiere Partnership [YEAR]" fades in below after "1". The globe flies in again from the left, and the text then flies away again and dissolves. As the copyright notice fades out, the globe also fades out before the logo zooms in with a trail effect.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: An ominous gong hit that becomes a triumphant fanfare. A continuity announcer then talks over the logo.
