Background
Prokino (Japanese: プロキノ, pronounced "purokino") was the abbreviation for Japan Proletarian Film Union (Japanese: 日本プロレタリア映画同盟). It's name comes from the Esperanto translation, "Japana Prolet Kino Unio". Prokino made animations and documentary films on 9.5mm film using compact, spring-wound cameras and the Pathé-Baby system. Their films have been displayed at many film festivals in Japan.
