Background

Ropponica (also known as Cine Ropponica) was a film and home video distributor operated by Nikkatsu Corporation to distribute more pink films. The company had distributed a number of movies, yet their on-screen logo appears to have only been used on two movies.

Logo (August 27-November 26, 1988)

Visuals: On a blue background, many lightning bolts shoot all over the screen, making the screen turn white on some occasions. As the last lightning bolt appears, "ROPPONICA", colored in a beige/blue color, moves in as letters from all sides of the screen with trails coming out of them. The letters then fade to the center of the screen in sky blue as diagonal lines and dots mark themselves in. The logo then shines as diagonal exclamation points appear in the Os and the logo starts to turn silver, then bronze and zooms in.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: Starts with an action packed tune during the lighting, and a calm synth percussion tune afterwards.

Audio Variants:

  • On Megalopolis Expressway Trial (首都高速トライアル, Shuto kōsoku toraiaru) (1988), the percussion in the theme is removed.
  • On videotapes, there is many thunder sounds that follow into an ascending dramatic fanfare.

Availability: Seen on films distributed in Japan by the company, such as Vice Amply Rewarded (悪徳の栄え, Akutoku no sakae) (1988) and the aforementioned Megalopolis Expressway Trial.
