Background

Studio 33 is a British video game developer founded by John White in August 1996, with its headquarters based in Liverpool, UK. The company primarily specializing in the production of real-life racing simulators for the PlayStation consoles. On October 16, 2003, Electronic Arts acquired the studio and renamed it to Electronic Arts North West Studio. The company later closed on October 17, 2006, exactly three years after the company being renamed.

1st Logo (March 31, 1998)

Visuals: The logo, consists of the stacked words "STUDiO 33" in a cartoony font, is shown in-credit alongside the Psygnosis and Bizarre Creations logos.

Variant: On the loading screen, the in-credit logo has "A" and "PRODUCTION" placed between the logo.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: The logo is only seen on the copyright screen and the loading screen of Newman-Haas Racing, in which the opening cinematic only shows an in-credit notice of the company.

2nd Logo (October 20, 1999-April 1, 2004)

Visuals: The logo consists of a 3x3 square made out of nine white rounded squares with a black outline, with the sixth one being colored sky blue and have "S33" inside of it. Below them, there is the company name, "studio 33". All of this are shown in-credit beside other logos on the copyright screen.

Variants:

  • These variants are superimposed over the opening cinematic, after the copyright screen.
    • Formula One 99: Several white rounded squares with a black outline fade in one-by-one, before the others fade out to shown only the 3x3 square, with the sixth one in its sky blue color. "S33" in a lighter font then fades in inside of it, alongside the company name in a lighter font, below.
    • Destruction Derby: Raw: Several squares slowly flash in one-by-one as various track logos from the game appearing in various directions at the same time. The squares later fade into the completed logo, before fading out.
    • Formula One 2000: Parts of the logo fly in from various directions to form the logo on the left, before flying away after a few seconds.
  • On Destruction Derby: Arenas, the standalone logo is on a blue background.

Technique: A still, digital graphic. CGI animation for the variants.

Audio: None. The game's opening theme for the variants.

Availability: The logo is seen on Formula One 99, Formula One 2000, Formula One 2001 (PS1 version), Destruction Derby: Raw, Formula One Arcade and Destruction Derby: Arenas.
