1st Ident (October 18, 1975-1983)

Visuals: On a black background, there is an outlined map of Angola which contains a white "TPA" in a lined format, along with "TELEVISÃO" underneath. The screen then zooms in towards the text.

Technique: Camera controlled animation.

Audio: A tribal drum theme.

2nd Ident (Late 1980s-1990)

Visuals: The first element shown is live action footage of a shore against a sunset. A spinning blue ball containing a silver "TPA" in the same format as before then emerges from the sun and them zooms towards the camera until it gets considerably close to the camera.

Variant: A closedown ident exists where the ball zooms away from us against a different shore footage.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A slow-paced, dramatic fanfare. The closedown ident uses a fast, arpeggiating synth which slows down as the ball disappears.

3rd Ident (1990-1997)

Visuals: On a space background with blue stars, there is a spiral with a blue star in front of it. Several comets arranged in a circle zoom out of it and rotate in a circular motion, while the "TPA" logo zooms in from the star.

Technique: CGI.

Audio:

  • A harp strum which transitions into a reggae-esque tune ending with a chorus singing the company name.
  • Sometimes, the logo is silent.

Availability: It was seen on the start up of TPA during the time.

4th Ident (1997-2002)

Visuals: The sequence is set on a space background with two planets one on the bottom left corner and another on the right) and shooting stars and asteroids flying about in a straight line. The TPA logo from the previous ident (now with a more translucent appearance) flies from the left side of the screen to the right whilst a color test bar (which is facing the left side of the screen) flies from the right side to the left. Both the logo and test card clip through each other once they both meet, and a white light is seen wiping through the TPA logo during the process. Once they cross each other and are on opposite directions from where they started, the test card zooms in and fills the screen whilst the logo zooms in over the card and places itself in the center. Another white light wipes past the logo before the sequence cuts off.

Technique: 2D CGI graphics

Audio: An 80s synth-pop-esque tune accompanied with the strum of a guitar that ends with a chorus singing the company name.
