Tokuma Shoten Intermedia

Background

Tokuma Shoten Intermedia was a Japanese video game publisher and licensor, and a division of Tokuma Shoten Publishing. The company also established a game development division around 1993, KOGA Game Factory, which developed a number of its releases.

1st Logo (October 19, 1990-December 22, 1992)

Visuals: Over a black background, there is the white, stylized "Tim" with the stacked "TOKUMA SHOTEN INTERMEDIA INC." next to and the copyright stamp below it. There is a pink circle with a smiley face falling from the top, bouncing to the left before settling at the tip of the "i".

Variants:

On the Famimaga Disk volumes, Panic Space and All 1, the rest of the animation is still, complete with the pink circle minus the smiley face.
On the Famimaga Disk volume Puyo Puyo, the logo, complete with the pink circle is paired with the Compile logo, with the copyright stamp above.

Technique: Sprite-based animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the Famimaga Disk volumes Panic Space, All 1, Clox, Puyo Puyo and Janken Disk Jō, all on the Family Computer Disk System, with Janken Disk Jō being the final game released on the latter console.

2nd Logo (September 25, 1992-May 31, 1996)

Visuals: On a black background is the "Tim" from before, with the stacked "TOKUMA SHOTEN INTERMEDIA INC." below. A red sphere falls from the top as it bounces and settles at the tip of the "i".

Variants:

On the SFC version of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, the animation starts heavily pixelated before decreasing quickly after the fade. It also omits the text below. It shows "Tim" with a shade of dodger blue/navy on the lateral faces, with the red sphere doing it's usual action. The stacked "TOKUMA SHOTEN INTERMEDIA INC." with the shade of the two latters wipe in.
On Higashio Osamu Kanshū Super Pro Yakyū Stadium and Love Quest, it shows "Tim" in a cornflower color. The red sphere does it's usual action, with the texture looking like a shining marble. As it stops at the tip, both of the elements intensely shine, as the stacked "TOKUMA SHOTEN INTERMEDIA INC." wipes in. They stop shining after the text's done wiping. As for Love Quest, the red sphere's action is badly off-set, as it bounces at an invisible object whereas it's supposed to bounce on "Tim". It also stops on one of the tips of "m", whereas it's supposed to stop at the "i"'s tip.
On Madoū Monogatari - Hanamaru Daiyoūchenji -, the sphere is flat as a circle, and is colored magenta.
On Little Master: Nijiiro no Maseki, the complete logo is still and slightly closer to the screen.

3rd Logo (January 26, 1996)

Visuals: On a black background, a glowing magenta sphere appears from the right and softly bounces in an invisible object thrice. Upon impacting thrice, the "Tim" from before wipes in, along the stacked "TOKUMA SHOTEN INTERMEDIA INC." below.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: Three soft pounds followed by an ascending synth note.

Availability: Shown on the promotional video for Madoū Monogatari - Hanamaru Daiyoūchenji -.

4th Logo (June 6, 1997-March 26, 1998)

Visuals: On a white background, the "Tim" from before in gray, along the magenta sphere fade in, and both rotate counterclockwise. The stacked "TOKUMA SHOTEN INTERMEDIA INC." fades in below.

Variant: On the PS version of Zoku Hatsukoi Monogatari - Shūgakuryokō -, the logo is revealed by vertical segmented stripes, and the elements rotate clockwise at this time. The screen zooms to the magenta sphere, leading to the game's title screen.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A charmful 8-note vibraphone/ascending harp combo. None for the PC-FX version.
