Apsara TV is a privately owned Cambodian television channel. In addition, locally known as TV 11, Apsara TV was founded in 1996 by the audiovisual group Apsara Media Group, initially close to the Cambodian People's Party (CPP). Since 2006, it has been managed by the communications company Solaris International. In 2009, the network employs about 150 people. The program of Apsara TV provides an important place for entertainment and information. On the broadcast in Khmer or French with subtitles, the channel focuses on foreign series (except Thai programs), films, games, and varieties, especially karaoke programs, which are very popular in the world. Apsara TV, however, does not neglect cultural programming and devotes part of its airtime to documentaries about the culture, traditions and history of the country. It also produces several television news programmes, as well as programmes on the economy, youth and women. About three hours of original programs are produced daily. A 24-hour broadcaster, it broadcasts wirelessly in Phnom Penh and broadcasts a specific version of its program via ADSL to the Cambodian diaspora.
