Logo (January 9, 1995-1999)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a large yellow elephant with "BENNY SMART" underneath in a blue-violet/red shape.

Variants:

  • Usually, either the word "presents" or the web address "www.bennysmart.com" and copyright information are underneath the logo.
  • Sometimes, there is no additional text and the logo is zoomed up to where it nearly fills the entire screen.

Technique: A still, illustrated graphic.

Audio: A young girl (Sara Louise Hartman) says "Benny Smart" and laughs, or silence. On the "presents" variant, she would say "Benny Smart presents" or nothing.

Availability: Seen on PBS airings of The Big Comfy Couch prior to 1999 (co-produced by WITF-TV, Harrisburg PA, before distribution went to Tadpole Kids and Nashville Public TV in 2002) and on episodes released for the Video Buddy, as well as Someday School on select PBS stations. It was also seen on Fox Family's airings of Oscar & Friends with audio intact. It can be found on Goldhil tapes of The Big Comfy Couch, but it doesn't appear on Time-Life Video's releases.
