Revision as of 15:37, 2 July 2024

1bcst Logo (May 5, 1997-1998)

Visuals: Set on a custom background is the Challenge TV logo, consisting of the 3D text "Challengetv", the former word being misaligned and the latter is interconnected. The Challenge TV logo is below its co-producer's logo.

Variants: Depending on the programme, the background may change:

  • Winner Takes All! sets the logo in a sky background with patterned clouds and also shares the screen with the 1996 Yorkshire Television chevron logo.
  • Endurance UK is set on a smoky blue background. The logo is also inside a horizontal gold oval and a "?" with orange, gold, and blue patterning is next to it.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: It appeared on Winner Takes All! and Endurance UK.

2nd Logo (December 25, 2000)

Visuals: This essentially consists of the previous logo on a black background with a copyright notice on the bottom. The difference here is the question mark is on top of the text.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: It appeared on The A-Z of 3-2-1.

3rd Logo (2001)

Visuals: On a gold background with upwards moving, shrinking light yellow horizontal bars in the centre is the question mark from before with white details added. The punctuation mark is also rotating to the left in a fixed position. Underneath it is the Challenge TV text from before and on top of it is a co-producer's name. The copyright notice and website link are presented below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: It appeared on the first run version of Stake Out and series 1 of Defectors. Reruns of the former programme plaster this logo with the next one.

4th Logo (May 27, 2002-2004)

Visuals: On a black background is a very wide stop sign containing the text "CHALLENGE ?" in white. The sign flips down and reveals its other side, reading "Play Again ?", before flipping again. The co-producer's name or logo appears on top of the logo and the copyright notice (usually pertaining to Flextech Rights Limited) is shown on the bottom.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.

Availability: It appears on reruns of Stake Out, Takeshi's Castle and series 2 of Defectors.

5th Logo (April 13-August 23, 2004)

Visuals: The Challenge logo from before, now flat and without the question mark, is shown on a dimly lit red background and placed in the center of the screen. The co-proudcer's name/logo appears on the top of the screen alongside "Production for". The Telewest Broadband logo, its byline reading "A Telewest Broadband company", and the copyright notice are displayed below the Challenge logo.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: It is so far known to have appeared on Reverse-a-Word, House of Games and Craig's Sushi TV.

6th Logo (November 2004-September 22, 2006)

Visuals: On a white background is "CHALLENGE" in white inside a red gradient capsule-like shape with a thick dark red outline. The other elements follow the same structure as the previous logo except the text is now dark red.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: It can be seen on the 2006 revival of Bullseye.

7th Logo (October 23, 2006-2008)

Visuals: Against a blue background with a large moving white burst in the centre is "CHALLENGE", made up of marquee lights, against a circular-made horizontal shape textured with a black and orange radial burst background. The structure involving the co-producer, byline, and copyright notice follow suit this time around except the text is in orange and Impact and the byline now reads "NTL: TELEWEST BROADBAND COMPANY".

Technique: 2D computer animation or a still digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: The endcap can be seen on the first two series of Take It or Leave It? as well as the first UK edit of Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke.

8th Logo (April 28-June 6, 2008)

Visuals: The Challenge logo from before returns here except with a flatter appearance, removing some shading and detail, notably the marquee lights on the channel name and with a brighter gradient palette used for the shape's texture. The logo is on the bottom centre of the screen on a black background while accompanied with its website URL below.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: So far, it can be seen on It's Not What You Know.

9th Logo (June 6?, 2008-2011?)

Visuals: Set on a fairly smoky dark dodger blue background is "challenge" popping in with each letter appearing at a delayed rate. The outline for the text appears first, followed by the letters themselves, which shine after formation. Behind the channel name are three stylised, round petal-like shapes in a gold gradient on the top and bottom side of the logo, that spin out of the text, centered on the "a". The result is the length of these petals vary, having a longer length the farther they are from the "a".

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Can be seen on Auntie's Smalls.
