Background

Dragonfly Film and Television Productions (formerly Firefly Film and Television Productions) was a television production company that was founded in 2004 by Nick Curwin and Magnus Temple. It was sold off to Shine Group in 2006 as part of a deal that saw Shine Ltd. to acquire Princess Productions and Kudos Film & Television.

1st Logo (2004-2013)

Logo: On a black background, we see a yellow/orange light. Streaks emit from the left, and form the text reading either FIREFLY" (2004-2009) or "DRAGONFLY" (2009-2013) on the right side of the light.

Bylines:

  • 2004-2007: None.
  • 2007-2014: "SHINE GROUP" with said company's logo on the left. It is also animated.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the logo is still.
  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.
  • When Firefly became Dragonfly in 2009, it was given an enhanced look.

FX/SFX: The light moving.

Music/Sounds: None or the end theme of the show.

Availability: Rare. The Firefly version is kept on Tony Robinson's Crime and Punishment, and it was also seen on To Kill a Burglar: The Tony Martin Story, The Thieving Headmistress, the Extraordinary People documentary The Boy Who Sees Without Eyes and the documentary series Life or Death. The Dragonfly version was seen on One Born Every Minute, The Hotel and Bear Grylls Wild Weekends.

2nd Logo (2013-2020)

Logo: On a black background, we see the white text "DRAGONFLY". Streaks appear, and then a colored dragonfly forms from the text.

Bylines:

  • 2013-2015: The same byline was seen like the previous logo.
  • 2015-2016: "ENDEMOLSHINEGROUP" (in the same font as the Endemol Shine logo).
  • 2016-2020: "EndemolShineGroup" (in the same font as the Endemol Shine logo).

Variants:

  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.
  • Sometimes, the logo is still.

FX/SFX: The streaks moving.

Music/Sounds: None or the end theme of the show.

Availability: Rare. Seen on Ambulance, later episodes of The Hotel and One Born Every Minute and Surgeons at the End of Life.

3rd Logo (2020- )

Logo: On a black background, we see the word "Dragonfly", wiping in, starting off in red, then to orange, then to yellow and then fades to white. The Banijay logo animates, but the text reads "We are Banijay".

Variants:

  • In its early days, the Banijay logo was larger, and a line separated the two logos.
  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.
  • A still version exists.

FX/SFX: The wiping of the logo.

Music/Sounds: None or the end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on later episodes of Surgeons at the End of Life, as well as Bradford on Duty, and current episodes of Ambulance.
