Background

Epix (a premium cable network co-founded by Lionsgate, Paramount and MGM in 2009) launched their own television production arm in Fall 2016. Their series were co-produced by either Paramount Television, MGM Television and/or Lionsgate Television. In January 2023, Epix was rebranded by MGM Television (who bought Lionsgate and Paramount's stakes in 2017) to MGM+.

1st Logo (September 8, 2012)

Visuals: A spotlight turns on in the bottom-right of the screen, revealing the Epix logo in 3D ("ePiX" with an orange "i"). "P I C T U R E S" flips in by letter below the logo, as the spotlight continues to light it.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The echoed sound of the spotlight turning on.

Availability: Seen on A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman.

2nd Logo (March 22, 2013)

Visuals: An orange flourish of light appears from both sides of the screen, while the Epix logo in 2D zooms in. "ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY" fades in below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The echoed sound of two spotlights turning on.

Availability: Seen on Who the F*ck is Arthur Fogel.

3rd Logo (October 16, 2016-July 2018)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the Epix logo rotating down. While rotating, the "i" in the text lights up the rest of the text to light gray. After rotating, the text "Original Series" appears.

Closing Variant: Same as the opening, but the text "EPIX IS A REGISTERED TRADEMARK OF STUDIO 3 PARTNERS" appears at the bottom.

Variants:

  • A short version is seen on the end of the first episode of Graves.
  • Documentary: The text "Original Series" is replaced by "Original Documentary".
  • Comedy: The text "Original Series" is replaced by "Original Comedy".
  • After MGM closed its acquisition of Viacom and Lionsgate's stakes in Epix, the logo was updated. "Original Series" is now replaced with "A Presentation of EPIX Entertainment LLC", with the byline "AN MGM COMPANY" below.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A short deep note (not like THX) followed by 4 more notes.

Availability:

  • Seen on Graves and Berlin Station, which both premiered on October 16, 2016.
  • The "Epix Entertainment" variant can be seen on later Epix programing, starting with season 2 of Berlin Station.

4th Logo (August 4, 2018-January 27, 2019)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a glowing dot which reveals the Epix logo. The text "ORIGINAL SERIES" fades at the right, followed by the copyright byline appearing in the bottom.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Same as above.

Availability: Seen on later episodes of Deep State and season 3 of Berlin Station, among others.

5th Logo (February 4, 2019-January 2023)

Visuals: On a gray-black gradient background, there is a golden Epix logo slightly fading in while also zooming out. A copyright byline appears below.

Variant: An early version has the logo on a plain black background, and it doesn't zoom.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A deep synth note. The early version has the same short deep note from before, but without the 4 notes.

Availability:

  • First seen on Punk, then it later appeared on other Epix original shows. This doesn't appear on international prints, as well as home video prints of their shows.
  • The early version was seen on Elvis Goes There and the last two episodes of Berlin Station.
