Background

On May 9, 2019, Fox launched an in-house unscripted studio unit of Fox Entertainment, with the second season of The Masked Singer as its first project.

Logo (September 15, 2019-)

Visuals: Over a dark blue background, the logo starts with the Fox shapes from the alternate Fox Entertainment logo, only in 2D zooming out. Then the screen zooms forth to the "O", inverting its colors and turning the shapes of "F" and "X" to normal. Then we see the words "ALTERNATIVE ENTERTAINMENT" zooming out and settling below "FOX", with no hole seen in the "O".

Trivia: This logo, as part of the entire branding package, won Trollbäck+Company a Bronze Entertainment Clio in 2021.

Variants:

  • A still version exists.
  • A warp-speed version exists.
  • On episodes of TMZ on TV, the logo is part of the split-screen credits.

Technique: 2D computer animation. This was designed by Trollback+Company, who rebranded Fox at the time when this logo was first introduced.

Audio: A 6-note choir melody with a drum beat at the end, which is part of the theme music to The Masked Singer.

Audio Variants:

  • In the later version (starting with Nick Cannon's Hit Viral Videos: Holidays), the music was re-orchestrated, with added plucking of string instruments and two piano notes at the end. A slightly shortened, sped-up version of this variant exists, which removes the two notes at the end and slightly modifies the last remaining note.
  • On some shows like Alter Ego and Snake Oil, the original version is used, but a drum beat is altered.
  • Sometimes, the end theme of the show is used.
  • On We Are Family, the first two notes are absent.

Availability: Seen on The Masked Singer, starting with its second season. Also appears on Ultimate Tag, the 2021 revivals of Name That Tune and America's Most Wanted, Let's Be Real, Nick Cannon's Hit Viral Videos: Holidays, Alter Ego, and post-September 15, 2021 episodes of TMZ on TV, among others.
