Background

Fox Lab was a production sub-division of the Fox Broadcasting Company, originally following in the footsteps of Fox Television Stations Productions. FTSP shut down Fox Lab in 2003.

1st Logo (1995-1996?)

Visuals: Same as the Fox Television Stations Productions logo of the time, but the text is replaced by "f o x l a b".

Variant: Sometimes, only the first half of the logo plays.

Technique: Computer-animated smoke effects.

Audio: None or the closing theme of the show.

Availability: The full version appears on America's Most Wanted: Final Justice. The variant was found on at least two episodes of What's So Funny?.

2nd Logo (March 8-August 24, 2003)

Visuals: A green-tinted gray tower structure pans down from above on a black background, revealing the words:

FOX
LAB

written in the usual Fox font, with two static beams standing at the edges of the "L" and the "B" emitting sparks of electricity from side to side, then the structure rapidly zooms-out in its proper slanted "20th Century Fox" format position. The tower is now in gold, surrounded by a dark blue stormy sky, with a thick, bellowing, fast-moving mixture of cumulonimbus and nimbostratus clouds, (using the same stock video as the Fox Television Studios logo, only the video is faster and sharper). A jolt of electricity moves up the tower, similar to that of a "Jacob's Ladder". Sometimes, the byline "A NEWS CORPORATION COMPANY" fades in underneath.

Trivia: Like the other 1994 Fox logos, this logo was produced and directed at Flip Your Lid Animation. More info here.

Variant: A short version of this logo begins from the zoom out.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A dramatic choir-like sound with sparking electricity (notably one of the few Fox logos to not use the iconic fanfare in any way). Otherwise, it's silent.

Availability: The full version was sourced from a Flip Your Lid Animation reel. On-air, this is only known to have appeared on the 2003 syndicated series Classmates.
