Background

On January 29, 2007, i: Independent Television was renamed Ion Television following the rebrand of its parent company as Ion Media Networks. Ion usually airs its programming in daily binge blocks of one program. On January 7, 2021, E.W. Scripps Company bought Ion Media Networks for $2.65 billion; in order to get FCC approval for the transaction, 23 of Ion's 87 stations were sold by Scripps to Inyo Broadcast Holdings.



1st Logo (January 29, 2007-September 7, 2008)


Visuals: On a black background, there is a lighthouse's light coming from the "i" in the "ion" logo. The light then forms the words "televis" next to "ion" and radial waves appear from it, changing the background to blue. The logo keeps shining for a few more seconds and the background changes back to black. Then, another wave turns the background back to blue, and then fades back again to black. A final wave turns the background blue again.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A dreamy synth tune with a female announcer saying "Ion Television".

2nd Logo (September 8, 2008-2011)

Visuals: Several orange circles fall and land on the floor of a sky background. On the background is

Technique: 2D/3D animation.

Audio: A rock tune usually with 6 notes played, sometimes with a male announcer saying "Ion Television. Positively entertaining."

3rd Logo (2011-2013)


Visuals: A orange orgami-like card unfolds to reveal a black card with the Ion Television logo from before on a off-white background. A lens flare appears as the camera zooms out. The card unfolds more, revealing a orange card with "POSITIVELY" on it and a white card with "ENTERTAINING" on it.

4th Logo (2013-2016)
