1st (known) Logo (Mid 1980's‐1987?)


Visuals: On a black background, a circle spins in from the center of the logo. It's blue, green, and red with a white emblem resembling a stylized P. When it settles down in the middle of the screen, the silver words "PACK-IN" and "VIDEO" crawl from the top right and bottom left of the screen (respectively) and settle down above and below the circle.

Variant: After the VHD logo, we rotates into a said logo all in white.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Appears on some Japanese VHS tapes, including Mutant Hunt and Vicious Lips.

2nd Logo (1987?-1994)

Audio: The opening theme of the game.

Availability: Seen on Yamamura Misa Suspense for 3DO.

4th Logo (November 18, 1994-1997)

Visuals: Over a black background, there is the stacked text "PACK IN VIDEO" in red or yellow.

Variant: 3DO games have the logo with the 3DO Company logo next to it.

Technique: A still, sprite-based graphic.

Audio: None or the opening theme.

Availability: Seen mainly on Super NES titles and a few Sega Saturn games. The 3DO variant appears on Nishimura Kyoutarou Travel Mystery and Iida Joji Nightmare Interactive.

5th Logo (December 9, 1994)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a gold box with the gold text "PACK IN VIDEO". The border spins like a cube and then the logo shatters.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The music from the Super FX logo, which is a whooshing sound, followed by an explosion.

Availability: Only seen on Vortex for Super Famicom.
