Background

TJL is the vanity card for Pittsburgh radio host Terry James Lubinsky.

1st Logo (March 6, 2004-March 1, 2005)

Visuals: There is a slow, white flash that segues into the TJL logo zooming in on a black background. The logo consists of a horizontal red box containing "TJL" with a shadow facing the bottom right.

Variant: There is an in-credit version.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A seven-note ascending Moog synthesizer jingle alongside shrill synthesized warbling in the background.

Audio Trivia: The jingle pays homage to the 1978 Time-Life Television jingle, carrying the same melody as said logo.

Audio Variant: There is a silent version.

Availability: The logo is seen on My Music: Superstars of Seventies Soul Live.

2nd Logo (December 2, 2006-2017)

Variant where the audio continues into the next logo

Shortened jingle variant

Copyright slide variant

Less crisp jingle

Visuals: A white, closely-connected "TJL" in white fade in, overlapping each other, while zooming out with a vignette surrounding the black background. A quick lens flare flash reveals a brightening, beveled red box as the letters separate.

Trivia: Similar to the previous logo, the logo pays homage to the 1978 Time-Life Television logo through a similar logo animation sequence.

Variants:

  • On the My Music special "Country Pop Legends", the sequence begins on an orange gradient background with moving, blurry white lights that fade in and out. Fading over the background is the following text with a bottom right facing shadow:
copyright (c) 2006
TJL Ventures, LLC
All Rights Reserved

After the text fades out, the sequence cuts to the normal logo animation.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: An electronic, harmonic ascending and descending synthesized glissando with a six-note shrill digitally performed Moog synthesizer jingle following it. The glissando ends with four gliding and repeating ascending notes.

Audio Trivia: Like before, the audio pays homage to the 1978 Time-Life Television jingle. Compared to the previous logo, the audio bears more similarities to said logo from carrying similar instruments to the same musical notes.

Audio Variants:

  • Sometimes, the closing theme of the program plays over.
  • On Close To You: Remembering the Carpenters, the jingle continues into the Treasury Collection logo.
  • On the My Music special "70s Soul Superstars", the six-note jingle does not sound crisp.

Availability: It can be seen on My Music specials from this period. The logo with its jingle appears on the My Music specials "60s Pop, Rock & Soul" and "70s Soul Superstars" as well as Carpenters Christmas Memories.

3rd Logo (November 21, 2017-2021)

Visuals: Fading in on a black background, there is a horizontal red box, with a beveled border and a brighter upper half unfixed to the object's movements, that rotates clockwise to a normal angle. Zooming out and landing within the box letter by letter is "TJL" in white. The logo zooms out for the remainder of the sequence.

Variant: On reprintings of My Music specials, a copyright stamp indicating TJL Ventures' involvement is added below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The closing theme of the program.

Audio Variant: On a reprint of the My Music special "The British Beat", the soundtrack is the same as the 1st logo.

Availability: It appears on the My Music specials The '80s, A Classic Christmas, and Perry Como Classics: Till the End of Time as well as Dolly Parton: I Will Always Love You.

4th Logo (November 13, 2021-)

Shortened variant

"PRODUCTIONS" variant

Copyright stamp variant

"AVAILABLE NOW!" variant

Treasury Collection variant

Visuals: A cityscape of Pittsburgh is shown far off in the distance on a brown panel surface against nighttime with scattered clouds scrolling to the right. The sun quickly rises in the distance and turns the setting to daytime, decreasing the city's shadow distance towards the screen and setting the sky to a gradient blue color. From the top of the screen, "tjl" with a shiny orb for the "j" slowly flies down and flip to face the screen. The logo shines before it becomes still.

Trivia: The logo pays homage to the 1981 WOR-TV bumper.

Variants:

  • There is a shortened version where it starts at daytime.
  • At the end of programs, "PRODUCTIONS" zooms out and places itself below the logo.
  • At the end of the "Little Anthony" documentary and Jay Black tribute, a close-up of the orb covering the entire screen while the credits roll is seen. It zooms out to reveal the background before "N W!" zoom out letter by letter and "AVAILABLE" in white zoom out above the text before the letters finish zooming. Afterwards, the TJL logo with "PRODUCTIONS" underneath zooms out below with the former flipping downwards.
    • The same variant would be used with the Treasury Collection logo replacing the TJL logo.
  • On an early-2020s printing of Doo Wop 50, a copyright stamp indicating TJL Media Archives' involvement is added below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A string and xylophone buildup with a synthesized whoosh leads to a triumphant orchestral fanfare with a chorus sing.

Audio Trivia: The jingle pays homage to the 1981 WOR-TV bumper, carrying the same melody as said logo.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the closing theme of the program plays over.

Availability: The logo first appeared on the "Little Anthony" documentary and Jay Black tribute. It later appeared on reprintings of several My Music specials such as "The Big Band Years" and "Moments To Remember".
