Background

Talkback is a production company that is part of Fremantle UK. It was formed on January 1, 2012, after FremantleMedia split Talkback Thames into four companies: Talkback for comedy, Thames for entertainment, Boundless for factual and Retort for scripted comedy. The name was derived from the former Talkback Productions, which was owned by FremantleMedia between 2001 and 2006.

1st Logo (January 1, 2012-September 1, 2018)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a green glowing circle with a grey outline and a big white "t". The word "talkback" with the "t" in the Gill Sans Ultra Bold font (reused from the 2006 Talkback Thames logo) than the other letters appears below with a byline reading "Part of FremantleMedia UK". The circle rotates twice, and then it glows as the circle stops rotating.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, this logo also shares the screen with other logos (including the 1997 BBC and 2013 ITV logos).
  • On season 1 of Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier, the logo appears during the UKTV Original Production logo.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme from any show or none.

Availability: Seen on shows by Talkback from the time period until September 2018.

  • It can be seen on shows created by the former Talkback and Talkback Thames, such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Celebrity Juice and QI, among others.

2nd Logo (September 13, 2018-)

Visuals: On a dark grey (or black) background is "TalkBac" with the "Bac" backwards. A sideways chevron shape comes in and pushes the "Bac" into the "K" in "Talk." The word "Back" then emerges from the "K", this time the right way around revealing "TalkBack" in a similar style to the 1984-2000 Talkback logo, except that the gears in the "a"'s are now hexagons. The hexagons also spin throughout the logo's duration.

Bylines:

  • 2018-2021: "Part of Fremantle"
  • 2021-: "A Fremantle Label" with "Fremantle" being said company's logo.

Variants:

  • There is a still in-credit version.
  • Sometimes, this logo also shares the screen with other logos (including the 2013 ITV logo).
  • The Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier variant is the same as last time, except with this logo.
  • On Too Hot to Handle starting with season 2, the logo appears on the bottom and the Thames logo appears beneath, making it similar to the Talkback Thames logo.

Technique: 2D animation by Venturethree.

Audio: The sound of a VHS tape being inserted into a player, the ending theme from any show, or none.

Availability: It debuted on season 20 of Celebrity Juice and appears on recent seasons of said show. It also appears on other shows such as QI, Too Hot to Handle and Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow, among others.
