Background

Television Program Enterprises was a television syndication distribution company formed by Al Masini, who also formed Operation Prime Time and it was owned by TeleRep. It was merged with Rysher Entertainment in 1993. Al Masini, meanwhile formed his own production company to continue producing TPE's shows.

Logo (September 17, 1983-September 2, 1995)

Visuals: On a black background, the letter "T" slides in from the left, "P" from the top, and "E" from the right. All three letters have streak effects as they move. The letters are filled in a blue gradient. The text "TELEVISION PROGRAM ENTERPRISES" is located above them and sandwiched between two "red lines, while "A DIVISION OF TELEREP, INC." (also sandwiched by two red lines) is below them.

Trivia: The "TPE" logo type font is also the same seen on Telerep's logo seen on Broadcasting Magazine's adverts.

Variants:

  • The logo sometimes appears without animation.
  • The logo is sometimes chromed-in on the ending credits of the show.
  • Another version features the end credits' background, which turns black as the logo animates.

Technique: Scanimate animation.

Audio: None or the closing theme of the program.

Availability:

  • Was once seen on episodes of Star Search and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous from the period, but TPE-distributed shows are likely updated with either the Rysher Entertainment, Paramount Domestic Television or CBS Television Distribution logos.
  • This was also seen on the 1988-89 version of Triple Threat with Jim Lange.
  • The still version was seen on a few episodes of The Smurfs on KidsWB.com, and was retained on at least one episode in a local syndicated rerun back in 2005 on the DIC Kids Network syndication block.
