Background

Thames is a production company that is part of Fremantle UK. On January 1, 2012, FremantleMedia split its UK production arm Talkback Thames into four companies: Talkback for comedy, Thames for entertainment, Boundless for factual and Retort for scripted comedy. The name was derived from the former ITV franchise holder and production company Thames Television.

1st Logo (January 1, 2012-2019)

Visuals: A purple circle zooms in, with the word "thames" (with a massive "t") turning on the circle. The bottom shines. The FremantleMedia UK byline appears on the bottom of it.

Variants:

  • On shows co-produced with Syco TV/Syco Entertainment, the logo zooms in faster.
  • On shows produced by its Scotland division, the word "Scotland" appears underneath the logo.
  • Sometimes, this logo also shares the screen with other logos (including the 2013 ITV logo).

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.

Availability: Seen on Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor from 2012-2019, Take Me Out, All Star Family Fortunes, and the 2012 series of Blockbusters on Challenge, among others.

2nd Logo (October 1, 2018-)

Visuals: On a black background, the word "THAMES" now in gold and in a different font rises up, and the reflection fades out, similar to the 1968 "Rising Buildings" and 2001 "River Waves" logos from the original Thames, respectively.

Bylines:

  • 2018-2021: "Part of Fremantle" (sometimes the Fremantle logo is used)
  • 2021-: "A Fremantle Label" with "Fremantle" being said company's logo.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos (including the 1997 BBC and 2013 ITV logos).
  • On Too Hot to Handle starting with season 2, the logo appears on the top and the Talkback logo appears underneath, making it similar to the Talkback Thames logo.
  • A still version exists.

Technique: Simple CGI by Venturethree.

Audio: A synth whoosh sound, followed by a "thud" with a choir. Otherwise, the ending theme of the programme, or none.

Availability: Seen on the 2019 revival of Supermarket Sweep, later episodes of The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, and the 2020 revival of Blankety Blank, among others.
